Suchin Pindoria, of North West London-based family-run business Such Designs, reveals how he and his team collaborated with Colour Interiors to create a cloakroom oozing style and luxury.
When Suchin Pindoria and his team at Such Designs were enlisted to help out with a complete renovation and extension of the ground floor of a Victorian family home in Dulwich, they worked with Karena Clayton of Colour Interiors, a boutique interior design practice specialising in high-end residential projects.
"The client wanted the cloakroom to be a fun and quirky space with a 'wow' factor," says Suchin. "As they were a family of four, it had to be suitable for guests to use while still remaining functional for small children."
As the client wanted to keep the existing grey WC, they had to build a scheme based on this while trying to make the room more cohesive. In addition, the small footprint meant space was extremely limited, so to create the longed for 'wow' factor, they needed to go all out where they could.
To get the desired effect they used punchy Satara wallpaper by Cole & Son wallpaper, which is richly decorated with lush leaves and lounging leopards in tawny orange, and soft metallic gold and bronze against a dark background. To enhance the look, interesting scallop-shaped deep blue tiles work as a practical but decorative splashback.
"I was most pleased with the colours in the cloakroom," says Suchin. "Karena did a fantastic job with the combination of the tiles and wallpaper to create a real statement powder room."
The luxurious and glittery Venice washbowl from Glass Designs is a showstopping touch, enhanced by the wall-mounted MPRO tap from Crosswater in a brushed brass finish. The clean contemporary silhouettes of both the basin and the mixer allow the striking finishes to resonate tastefully without ever feeling gaudy.
Completing the look are an arched Heal's mirror, which adds height to the space, along with elegant Tala globe wall lights on either side.
"It was a really small space so we had to be very conscious of the size and placement of all the products," says Suchin. "But we loved using the Cole & Son wallpaper along with the Artisans of Devizes scallop wall tiles to add interest and texture."
So how do the homeowners feel, now that their project is complete? "They are really pleased with how the cloakroom hit their brief entirely," says Suchin. "It really packs a punch for such a small space, and they're loving their newly renovated ground floor."
