Having been trading as a premium bespoke Shaker kitchen designer and maker since 2004, Tim Higham, founder of London-based Higham Furniture, has revealed he has expanded his business operation by becoming co-owner of The Wood Works of London Ltd.
The assets of the incumbent business, Logobuild Ltd. trading as ‘The Wood Works’ were purchased in February 2024 after the North-London based family-run company went into administration. The new owners, KBB and joinery mentor and investor, Erin Woodger, Alex Forster, owner of Hunt Bespoke Kitchens & Interiors, together with Tim Higham, have committed to preserve all jobs and to honour and fulfil all outstanding orders. The longer-term intention is to return the business to profitability, whilst maintaining the strength of the brand through results-driven marketing. The Higham Furniture brand and business is unaffected by this new acquisition, and remains separate to the new venture.
For the past 20 years, Fulham-based Higham Furniture has built a reputation for the design, manufacture and installation of premium bespoke traditional and contemporary Shaker furniture for clients in London and the Home Counties.
All furniture made by the brand is crafted at Higham Furniture’s wholly-owned Denmead workshop in Hampshire. This includes Higham’s own exclusive Inset Handle kitchen, a design that bridges the gap between handled and handleless furniture. The streamlined inset handles were designed by Tim Higham and are made exclusively by British brassware brand, Armac Martin.
Tim Higham, pictured, said: “The Wood Works is a premium brand that has a manufacturing base in Letchworth, Hertfordshire with 3 showrooms in Ascot, Mill Hill and Letchworth. Buying the assets in a 3-way investment partnership with Erin and Alex means that we have the skills and experience to place the established business back on track.
“Our joint vision is to capitalise on the high standards that the previous owners set in relation to great design, quality manufacturing and strong customer service. With the current management structure, we aim to bring it back to profitability and to make it successful again.”
