Ripples announces support for UWLA at annual Franchise Conference

Bathroom retailer Ripples has announced its support for the Unified Water Label Association (UWLA) at its annual two-day conference for franchisees, held this month at the elite country house hotel and private members' club, Estelle Manor, in Oxfordshire. At the event, UWLA MD Yvonne Orgill addressed the 40 delegates to explain why the water efficiency labelling scheme has never been more relevant in light of the Government's decision to introduce a mandatory water label, and discuss how retailers can get behind it.

"In the past few years, we've been looking at how we can take steps to become a greener business and how we can work with clients to create more sustainable spaces in their homes," said Ripples MD Paul Crow.

"Having been impressed by the good work of Yvonne Orgill for many years, I recently had the opportunity to meet her at the BMA conference in Cheshire where she shared the story of the UWLA and the need to find an industry-led, rather than Government-led, solution. It was during this meeting that we shared our mutual aims and created an initial roadmap to trial the scheme via Ripples showrooms. I was delighted to invite Yvonne to speak at our annual winter conference, to share her passion for the project with our franchisees and to start the process of implementing the scheme."

He added: "This was a particularly special conference as we celebrated 35 years of Ripples and among the delegate list were Roger and Sandra Kyme, who started Ripples 35 years ago."

Yvonne Orgill said: "I am thrilled that Ripples – a leading showroom group in the UK – sees the benefit of supporting the industry labelling scheme. This is another step on our journey to raise visibility of the Unified Water Label direct to consumers and commercial projects. To receive the support of the Ripples group demonstrates that industry is leading, educating, and influencing the consumer on the importance of using water wisely, as we all walk along the sustainability path."
